Self love — Connecting more with that who you are inside

Self love — Connecting more with that who you are inside

It’s something inside. You find out who and what you are inside. Put your heart in relationship to what is called religion. Put your heart in relationship to this spiritual identity that lies inside.” — Sydney Banks

When I think about self love what first comes to my mind is when I in my early twenties learned about spirituality.

At that time I thought that in order for me to find happiness and bring more good things into my life, I needed to cultivate more of the feeling of self love.

I thought that I needed to do more loving things to myself in order for me to find the feeling.

Today I see loving myself in a slightly different way.

I see self love as a natural by-product when we go within.

When we let go of the personal and go within and connect with that power greater than ourselves, we find love.

I don’t really see self love as something different to love.

I see that whenever we find the feeling of love within, we become also loving towards ourselves.

Instead of thinking about what we need to do in order to cultivate the feeling, I’ve found myself to think less about myself and becoming more interested about the world.

Instead of believing that I need to do loving things to myself, I have found myself doing less and becoming more present.

Because it’s in that place of the present moment when we stop thinking about ourselves, when we connect with that love within us.

When we go within and go from the personal to the impersonal.

And yet somehow when we do this not only do we feel more love, but also we begin to treat ourselves better.

When we stop thinking about ourselves we simply connect with the feeling.

And from this place taking care of ourselves and treating ourselves in the most loving ways becomes natural. It becomes automatic and not something that we need to think about that much.

It’s not that we need to think about ways how we can be more loving towards ourselves, but when we forget ourselves and connect with the impersonal, we find love.

And that includes self love.

It’s our purest nature that we connect with, when we let go of the personal and go within.

Love is who we are.

And as soon as we let go of the personal we begin to get glimpses of this.

We begin to connect with the feeling from within and treat ourselves and others with kindness.

We let go and go within. We go home, to that place within us that is pure love and perfection.

Love is who we are from the inside.

With love,
Heidi
